Yangon

The main gateway to other tourist sites of Myanmar is Yangon. Yangon has been the capital city of Myanmar until 2005, and has now turned into the main commercial centre of the country where most of the trading and business transactions take place. Visitors can also explore buildings in Yangon which still reminds of the time of colonial days. Yangon also has recently opened a new Int'l Airport to facilitate all incoming and out-going visitors. But the most famous tourist attraction in Yangon would be and still is The Shwedagon Pagoda. Towering almost 100 meters above the green cityscape of Yangon, the Shwedagon Pagoda is the prominent landmark visible from miles around. One of the wonders of the world, the Shwedagon is believed to have been built more than 2500 years ago. It is the essence of Myanmar and a place that never fails to enchant. A visit to Yangon is incomplete without a visit to Shwedagon.

       

Mandalay

Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar was the last royal seat of Myanmar Kings, and is situated in central Myanmar. Blessed along with the Royal Palace are a large number of pagodas, monasteries, and temples which are rare resources of Ancient Architecture. Mandalay is also known as the cultural centre of Myanmar.

       

Bagan

Bagan with thousands of Pagodas and Temples scattered within an area of 19 square miles on the plain alone and the Ayeyarwaddy River flowing through it, is located in central Myanmar, and is well-known as the cradle of Myanmar culture. The history of The kingdom of Bagan can be traced back since 9AD, but its glory lasted from AD107 to AD 1369. Popularly known as the city of thousands pagodas, Bagan is one of the most interesting and oldest archaeological sites in Asia.

        

Inle-Lake

Inle Lake is located about 30km to the south of Taunggyi, in the Southern Shan State region. Inle Lake is a vast, beautiful, and picturesque lake sheltered among the hazy blue mountains and is studded with floating islands. Inle Lake is famous for its Unique Leg Rowers, Floating Villages and colourful markets. The famous festival of Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda in Inle Lake, which is held during the month of October, is full of pageantry and colourful splendour.

       

Ngapali

Ngapali an unspoiled beach of white sand and swaying palms lies about 6 kilometers away from Thandwe in western most Rakhine State. After the Anglo-Burmese War in 1826, some Italians arrived at the beach and named it after the Italian City of Naples. Napoli in Italian Language and the name over the years became known as Ngapali. Seafood is a specialty of this region. Nearby fishing villages are also interesting places to visit.

       

Mrauk-U

Mrauk-U is an ancient royal capital of the Rakhine race which was built by King Min Saw Mon and its glory lasted 355 years over the reign of 48 Kings. There are many temples built out of stone and the figures had been painted with coloured glazes.
